Entry Level Nivrel Grand Guilloche watches Is A Perfect Gateway To Fine watches Appreciation

I do my best to counsel the, but it is hard to instill the passion I have for watches to someone who is just getting their feet wet in the area of horological enthusiasm. The best approach is to get a watch that is affordable, and allows you to appreciate the complexities and refinement of traditional watch making. Enter this original German Nivrel Grand Guilloche watch. I say 'original' because this watch has subsequently been updated a bit, and this is the original model, but I would argue it is nicer than the update (which is pictured below). The retail on a watch like this is $600-$700. This particular model can be had for $500 or less (with some bargaining) on eBay right now. So only one lucky person will get to have this specific watch.
Avenir Chrono Boss Premiere Watches
When Avenir Chrono's people were telling me about their new Boss Premiere line of watches (seen here), they mentioned a host of celebrities who were known to wear or own the watches. The funny thing was that I'd never heard of all but one of the people they mentioned. This rather amused me. I was first curious as to what portion of the pop culture demographic they were referring to (later I learned it was mostly people in the hip hop community), and then I was curious as to just how "out of it" I am when it comes to pop culture. Granted, I don't keep up much with the hip hop crowd, and of course less as to what they are wearing.
Oris RAID Chronograph Limited Edition Watch
Have it known that the US side of Oris's operation is comprised of some very lovely, helpful people. While I didn't get to spend as much time as I would have liked with them at Baselworld 2010, I will be spending more time with their watch collection in June. I was able to get shots of a very cool limited edition piece - the Oris Watches RAID Chronograph. RAID is a rally race of vintage cars. It now takes place in Switzerland and France, and only includes automobiles made before 1975. If you want to learn more about it, just Google it.
